So in church we learned about how Abram(not yet Abraham) went into Egypt. . .without God's consent. . .and became afraid because of how beautiful his wife, Sarai, was. Abram's fear was that he would be killed and his wife be thrown in the Pharoah's harem. So Abram lied and declared his wife was his sister meaning she'd be under his protection as blood relative.
Sarai was basically tossed in a gilded cage for her own protection while Abram lived it up. God had enough of his nonsense and gave a small preview of the future plagues and punishments that would happen later with Moses. Abram got exposed and was kicked out of Egypt.
I got to thinking how many times a man screwed up so badly in Scriptures that future generations would feel it. Adam, Noah, Abram, that guy that kept welching on Tamar's wedding promise.
I told the pastor afterwards that I was surprised that Abram didn't have to pick up some of his teeth up off the floor/ground after Sarai was done with him. Women back then had to be tough as nails after all.
So what does that have to do with women today? Well it seems to be women's turn to royally mess things up like those men did way back then.
