AITAH for wanting to platonically ship myself with another character in the friendship sense that another Imgflip user made for the community?
Hello there, fellow redditors from this subreddit. I bring forth, another story that is fresh and hot off the presses.

So, not that long ago (around a month), I had found out about this one community OC that one of my followers and little bit known on my side, and the OC name is called Claire, a "Beanoid" character that was made for the Imgflip community in the MSMG (MS_memer_group AKA Mildly Small Memer Group) stream. The creator of Claire is my old pal Chronological (AKA ChronolinthMusic), fellow Imgflip user and had been there for years. I had already made sexual comments about Claire saying that I'd smash with her (Saying it in the Smash Or Pass sense, I only say that stuff for the funny, if ykyk), and had made other comments throughout the month, so my reputation on that isn't GREAT, but if you understand my point about it, then you can agree with me.

So, this morning, I said that I wanted to platonically ship (THE KEY WORD BEING PLATONICALLY) myself and Claire, and Chrono was pissed because she is highly uncomfortable with people shipping her character because she thinks that I'm doing it for the romance when I'm not. Other people were also saying that as well when I had stated for the record that I am only doing it for the FRIENDSHIP, not for the romantic relationship. Unfortunately, everyone did not take this to this level of understanding and they are now overreacting to this, saying that I want to be in love with the character and saying that platonic shipping doesn't exist when it does, although I had stated multiple times that I am PLATONICALLY SHIPPING THE CHARACTER! PLATONIC SHIPPING IS WHERE YOU SHIP FOR THE FRIENSHIP, NOT THE ROMANCE! And people are already saying that I'm a freak because I want to smash Claire when I had said that I wouldn't actually think that and people are automatically assuming that I am doing a romance ship when I'm not, in which that makes me controversial when I had stated loud and clear, that I wouldn't and won't ship the character in the romantic way, and for the friendship way. I had said this in multiple comments, multiple posts, and people are still not listening to me, and because of my past sayings and that I had said those only as a joke, it makes me the asshole here when I'm not the asshole! Another person agreed with me saying that I'm in the right and they

understand that I'm shipping for the friendship, but everyone is saying the exact opposite because of what I said over a month ago and this month, although I had said that stuff as a joke! I side with Chrono's point saying that she's uncomfortable with shipping for romance, I agree with her. If I made a character and people would be shipping it for the romance, I would be as uncomfortable as her, that I can agree with. What I don't agree with, is that she and others are saying that I'm romantically sexualizing the character when I am not intending to do that, and that I want to ship the character for the friendship. This controversy and misunderstanding had already gotten me on the list of most controversial users for the wrong reasons and for the wrong thinking and context of the situation. Although I had said multiple sexual comments about the character, and although that I had indeed said multiple times that I'd want to smash, that's not my thinking when it comes to the relationship between me and Claire for art and the shipping sense. I only see Claire as a friend, not a girlfriend or any material for romance or that stuff. If you had said to a creator of your favorite character, saying that you want to platonically ship a character, knowing that you're only shipping for the friendship, I would agree and wouldn't cause unnecessary drama over a fan. What I'm saying is, is that I wanted to platonically ship the character in the friendship sense, not the romantic sense, and would want to make art based on what kind of friendship, not sexual relationship that I would set it as. So, based on my past comments, my posts giving the clarity, the pros and cons about the situation and my look of the past, the current situation, the prosecution and my defense, am I, a humble Redditor who wants to platonically ship a character for the friendship sense and not for the romantic way, the asshole because I wanted to platonically ship Claire for the friendship sense despite me saying otherwise before but I was joking when I said that stuff?
