Here’s a tip: use rubber bands or something similarly “snappy”. If you get the urge to cut, just pull the band and snap it so it hits your wrist.
Most people who cut do it for the sensation (“to feel something”). This provides a less damaging alternative to cutting. It has worked for lots of people.
