"Imagine going to buy a used car with your spouse. You’re trying to negotiate a good deal, but whenever a salesperson quotes a price, your spouse says, “Wow, that’s a great deal! We should take it!” Or imagine playing poker. You make a big bet, but the person behind you looking at your hand says, “Wow. You’re raising on that crap?!” Regardless of the cards you’re playing or the deal you’re trying to negotiate, it doesn’t help when you have others sabotaging your moves.
This is precisely the role the American media has played in foreign negotiations throughout both Trump presidencies. They’re constantly trying to undermine EVERYTHING he does, whether or not it benefits the American people. Their fearmongering on tariffs and trade policy only emboldens the Chinese to hold out, which makes a good deal all the more difficult. China is getting pounded right now by Trump tariffs, but it’s a communist dictatorship, so their leaders know they will stay in power regardless of how much the average Chinese citizen suffers. And they know they can always count on their core of useful idiots in the Western press to try to mobilize American public opinion against Trump, pressuring him to go back to the screw-America policies that benefit them.
It’s doubtful the propaganda will work this time. Trump doesn’t care in the least what the press thinks of him anymore, and 90 percent of the country now knows they can be trusted on NOTHING. However, it will prolong the trade war, as foreign adversaries hold out hope that the propaganda standard operating procedures will yield the results they’re used to. Use cannot hate the media enough!"
