The best CGI is the CGI you don't even know exists until you do your research later.
Several outdoor scenes in the 2001 film "The Princess Diaries" had a lot of insects in the background, so CGI was used to remove those insects.
It gets better. In the 1996 film "The Cable Guy", there's a scene where Steven Kovacs (played by Matthew Broderick) and his buddies are playing basketball with The Cable Guy (played by Jim Carrey). Jim Carrey was so bad at basketball he couldn't even dribble, so director Ben Stiller told him to mime the movements of dribbling, passing and catching the ball, and the ball was digitally inserted during post-production.
