Rule was made to counter mod abuse and has helped, even if it sounds messy in theory.

You can ban a user indefinitely, but keep your evidence so the ban doesn't get reversed and you get to remain mod afterwards.

It makes sense in hindsight but feels anticlimactic, and currently does more harm than good.

It makes sense because the number of unfairly banned users is lower than before the rule was made.

The rule is not preventing mods from performing their duties, and isn't protecting abusers.

That is a problem that will always exist, whether mods have ban power or not.

Because owners are extremely lazy and don't want to deal with mod abuse even though it would be well fixed it they just added good moderators

Exactly.
You'd rather force the mods to be almost powerless because you know you've hired so many mediocre ones than to make sure the mods are good and actually doing their job?

Can they call a sitemod to do that?

I'm sure there's a reason for it

To stop mod abuse and give more power to the owners

But this results in more drama, more TOS breakers and the mods who try to fix this get punished, so they stopped trying to fix it in fear of losing their position as mod.

Maybe having the ability to perm ban someone also allows that person to delete the stream
That would be the highest mod level, this would be a step down
I actually have no f**king Idea I'm just spitballing

mods are physically capable of permabans but its in the stream rules not to. so we CAN, but theyll remove our mod
