Yakuza is the only franchise I ever marathoned because of the story, combat, and open world. It truly is a treat to play no matter which game you start with. I can’t tell you enough times to play it yourself.
Yeah, Super Monkey Ball only has like 2-3 good games but those games are so amazing that they carry the rest of them on its back. Plus there’s no other game like it outside of extremely small indie projects.
As a kid I always thought Halo was just Call of Duty in space but it really isn’t. The physics, floatiness, combat, AI, and vehicles give it such a cool feeling that no other FPS has recreated 24 years later.
Mirror’s Edge isn’t really a franchise. It only has 2 games which aren’t even related to each other. But like Monkey Ball, there’s no other game like it. First-person platforming is so fun when it’s done right, and these games capture it perfectly.
Again, Portal only has 2 games. It has plenty of mods and side stories though. This one pretty much speaks for itself.
I DON’T LIKE MODERN COD. But Call of Duty in general does still have some of my favorite games. World at War, Black Ops 2, Cold War. That’s why I say Black Ops and not all of COD, though the og Modern Warfare trilogy was awesome as well.
Once again, Jet Set Radio is only 2 games (for now) and I’ve only played one of them anyway. But as a concept it’s awesome. Its distinct art style, music, map design and parkour. I’m looking forward to whatever SEGA is cooking with the new one.
