Well there is a disturbing lesson. Reductionism, or meaning the whole is the sum of its parts, is rampant in science. It's because we are human, yet possibly certain types of humans too. Any race has highly analytical individuals and those naturally find a place in science research. The story vividly displays the gullible nature when trusting research of influential scientists. Here they've reduced birthing to data and did not include a part of that data. Some may say use better data. Others may say examine yourself.
