I feel like that's only part of the problem though. Even though it always existed, most people could still function in society. We have a growing number today that have inability to adapt to circumstances, in a way that didn't seem to exist earlier in history (and if that were actually a problem, it wouldn't matter if we'd discovered it). Like for me, it's nearly impossible for me to pick up physical activities at a regular pace or even considerably slower than regular pace. I'm not the only one who's like that today, but you rarely hear of anyone who was like that in the 60s. And it makes you wonder if something has directly affected that. It's definitely true that we're learning more about it, but that doesn't necessarily disqualify this as a potential truth.
Yeah, not all forms of it are bad. Aspbergers has difficulty picking up some things and is super efficient at picking up other things. Thats not really bad bc that means they can end up being your most successful people. This is likely why Elon Musk is the richest man in the world despite being severely autistic.
Some forms of it are heavily annoying and impair social activity or communication, and if you're like me and long for human connection, it is extremely aggravating. And thats why I say I would hope people can find cures for those kinds of autism
Tbh I think they shouldn't group all these forms into one spectrum bc some of the spectrum is like mentally incapacitated and the other is quite sharp. Then if you want to research how to help the mentally incapacitated, it can be taken as an attack on the whole spectrum.
yeah as a person surrounded by academics and someone who needs to learn how to self learn, ADHD sucks fr
