something overrated is something bad that is popular, for example: a not very-well video game that is hard-to-play and/or has topics that are very disgusting (like homicidal acts against children) which are not shown in any respectful way but somehow has popularity would be overrated, but a well-put together game that has popularity wouldn't be overrated. this sounds nerdy but i'll say it anyway lol
