You know who's buying and opening up new pizzerias round here (Bronx)? Albanians and assorted former Yugoslavians, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and other Hispanics. If it wasn't for these people, NY pizzerias would be going extinct, as Jr doesn't want to crack a sweat working in the pizzeria his grandfather started in 1948. They'd rather work on Wall Street. Same with Italian and other restaurants.

Back in the day, we were the busboys. That was our first job (unless you deliver newspapers by bicycle when you were in grammar school).

Then Mexicans started filling those jobs as no one here wanted to do anything outside of the cubicle for their first job anymore. Busing, washing dishes... Eventually they became waiters too, and ultimately, after years of saving, bought the restaurant after the owner retired and nobody in the family wanted to take it over.

The unfortunate true demise of Babylon...but a new slave system awaits in the shadows.

All these sudden job cuts, agencies and departments that no longer exist to hire anybody, businesses crashing with the coming recession, slashing of benefits, farm subsidies & labor gone resulting in $10 for a head of lettuce and $3 for one egg, housing unaffordable, no illegals to do the jobs that nobody wants... Before you know it, the fine art of actually having to work when folks are at work may be coming back sooner than anybody would prefer.

Yup, lower back pain for future generations whose main health concern had been the growing width of their gelatinous buttocks might be making a comeback,,,

No...I'm leaning towards the digital slave system waiting to be unveiled...A.I governance, people locked in their pods on their devices with hopes to have enough social and carbon credits to visit grandma next week outside of their carbon emissions zone.

But there's no profit in AI governance, and it doesn't inflate egos in desperate need of getting inflated to help compensate for growing up without a proper amount of hugs and Hot Pockets.
