Elon perfectly described people's point of view changing when reality strikes. Elon said this during an interview, where he told a personal testimony of his mother's friends in Manhattan. His mother has several affluent friends who were self-proclaimed Liberals, then one of them literally was punched in the face and had her purse stolen by an illegal immigrant while walking down the street. Then the friend was so upset and started complaining about the influx of illegals in NYC and she has been a "conservative" ever since.
