I just found out what the minimum wage is and did some math, then found out something very frustrating. I'll put all my math in comments but at minimum wage I'd be making 290 dollars per week. Yes I realize there are income taxes but for the sake of simplicity I'll ignore those. Doing chores I make 240 PER YEAR. In other words, screw my mom. I should've had a driver's license by now so I can ditch what is quite literally a dog shit pay rate. Exactly. The dumbest thing I've ever been punished for was actually talking back.

Basically it went like this

Me: *filling chicken waterers, it's almost dark*

Dad, frustrated I haven't done it in two microseconds: would you rather be here five hours or five minutes?

Me: I'd rather just not be here

Outside, twice a week, being jealous of my IRL friend who probably makes over double what I'd make over the course of an entire year. I don't even talk to him anymore but I just know he's doing better than me

Actual job pay rate math

7.25 per hour x 8 hour work days x 5 work days (assuming no work on weekends) = 290 per week

Dogshit chores math

5 dollars per week x 4 weeks in a month x 12 months = 240 per year

Honestly I don't even see it as worth the effort anymore. I have to keep myself on a schedule for a whole month just to get something cheap and have to spend several months if I want something bigger.
