Even if Musk endorsed Harris or remained neutral, I wouldn't immediately pick a Tesla as my first car. The company needs to improve its build quality(props to them for fixing the Cybertruck panel issue), add more luxury features that are becoming mainstream, like cooled seats, massaging seats, and heads-up displays. Until then I would manage with a hybrid from Toyota or Honda.
Hyundai and KIA are giving us some pretty good EV models, and they're capable of competing in sales with Tesla, even if they lose the EV tax credit. Teslas are definitely not as luxurious as Audi, BMW, or Mercedes EVs, but I could see some affluent liberals spending extra to get a more premium vehicle or just avoid association with Musk. Lucid and Rivian also produce luxury EVs, and Chinese automakers are releasing some EVs that have better value for the price but don't seem to be coming to the US.
It was great to see Tesla Motors pioneer the 21st century popularization of EVs, but now it's sad to see innocent people and dealerships lose their cars to vandalism just because we disagree on what Musk is doing in the government. Their stock is starting to bounce back, which is good because Tesla is the keystone of the EV market and is revolutionizing wheeled transportation. Elon Musk has the potential to do a lot of good for us, he just needs some more regulation to put his efforts in the right direction.
