Yes, if you're trapped in a burning building completely surrounded by flames, and the only exit is the window, and you don't see any ladders from fire trucks or helicopters nearby, and you're more than 100 feet off the ground, you only have three options.
1. Stay where you are and die a slow and painful death through suffocation and/or horrific burns.
2. Jump before your body catches fire and die instantly and painlessly when you hit the ground.
3. Jump when you're engulfed in flames, feeling unimaginable and unbearable pain as you fall to your death, and possibly set other objects and/or people on fire when you hit the ground.
Sadly, Lorrie (played by Susan Flannery in the 1974 film The Towering Inferno) chose Option 3, the worst of the three.
