I saw something like this at a military museum. During the American Civil War, logs were hollowed out and filled with explosives, so when those logs were placed in a fireplace or a stove, they'd explode.
but was a protoype but the shipment of the said bombs were intercepted by germans and i kid you not the moment they tried to open the box it exploded as such they were never made again
