Caveman trying to make a Gundam fr fr ong

Caveman trying to make a Gundam fr fr ong | Here's a mech I'm working on in besiege; Can't make it stop leaning forward. Hopefully some back mounted weapons can fix that; The knees can bend; And the legs can do... This. I'll use these separately to make it walk eventually; Ignore this it's for the arms; Legs can also spread which I planned to use to give it a more natural looking stance by limiting the outward movement but right now it just makes it fall over | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I built something similar back when I played bad piggies.

Mine had claws made with plane parts

I feel like this is exactly what would happen if you got some of that military funding and told to make a mech

I don't even think it'd be that hard to make something that can at least be all terrain.

Not a Gundam, probably something more like the amp suits from avatar (not the Nickelodeon show I'm not insane)

We have Boston dynamics robots, literally just scale up one of those, give it a cockpit, and have it figure out what it's supposed to do movement wise based on the pilot's input.

Legs are controlled by the mech but commanded by the pilot, meanwhile the hands are fully controlled by the pilot.

This is braindead easy.

It doesn't even have to be a military specific thing, sure you can have units specialized for combat but imagine utility based units that are as common as pickup trucks

Heck, even those could be outfitted for combat if need be

Of course you'd need a special license to operate one though, especially if you plan to set it up for combat

Yeah like that mech suit from the first alien movie used to help carry cargo around. Like a more manuvourable forklift

Ehh maybe not like that

Hacksmith made one and it's more of a gimmick thing than anything else. Fun to use, but not exactly all purpose and far from all terrain

But it does have its uses.

Beside why make an all purpose one. Make many specialists that way you'd be able to sell more

Here's the thing.

Would you rather have one all purpose tool, or a warehouse you have to sort through to find the one specific one you need.

We live in a capitalist society. The later choice has already been made.

Tbf you started by saying this is what I'd do if I were given a military budget

And I've elaborated on what I would do

I'd get a bunch of engineers to combine things we already have into something far more versatile, then sell it in two or three models. A military model, a civilian model, and maybe an industrial model with better hydraulics

Nah, too short and bulky. The walking mechanism would also be way different because of that
