I mean, one of my favorite albums was written and released when the band was still in high school (they wrote it all), and it's actually insanely good, there was actually effort and thought put into it and I love it.

Being popular, bad, and releasing prolifically doesn't take anything away from the good artist who releases once a year.

More popular artists earn more, definitely.

But the good artist is usually good because they're not making music with primarily commercial intent, so we don't really have ground to comment on who 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be earning more or who 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be more popular.

If I'm too good at delivering food, I'd be catering too a far larger consumer base than one outstanding chef. That would probably be because it's more convenient to order shit food than hire a chef.
Carti makes music that requires no understanding of even the language he's speaking in, this is a lot more convenient than classical music and so gets a significantly higher listening.
