It may look weird now, but I think I've done something smart. This look is temporary; I've put every color on a separate layer so that I can easily change them without having to manually use the bucket tool. I can instead just turn on alpha lock, make my brush absurdly big, then swipe across the layer and then suddenly everything on it is the color I want. I can also add markings to specific parts using a clipping mask
