It's actually a lot worse than just "small shoes"

Generally, they had the bones in their feet broken and folded over when they were 3-6 years old.

Their feet ended up looking more like hoofs. I don't even know how a woman could walk with such a deformity. I thought that the Chinese only did that to princesses who had people literally wait on them on hands and knees but what I read was that this was still occurring as late as the 20th century.

Actually this was an old 1800s tradition in which the woman’s foot was broken and folded under the rest of her foot. It was quite popular back then, right along side swallowing live tapeworms so you could get the idealized 6 inch waist and bleeding out the sick to make them better

In China it went back centuries further (the foot binding). If there is any point to this meme it's about unrealistic and often unhealthy beauty standards and the lengths that people will go through to achieve them: Anorexia, plastic surgery, breast augmentation, botox, collagen injection, etc.
