Trump is doing the things that only some Americans want, and he's doing it without carefully considering the consequences of his various actions. I do care about Trump's supporters, but Trump is a careless oaf. let's not pretend otherwise to help people feel good about what he's doing. Republicans should have worked with Obama to find a middle ground and arrive at less awful solutions, but they didn't want to. then they were 'surprised' when the Dems didn't want to cooperate with Trump. now most of Trump's changes will be reversed once he's gone, so what's the point? it's just dumb and wasteful, which he claims to be against.
