So there are two main types of conservative/ right wing factions in the US, you have the older conservatives like George Bush and Dick Cheney who want to get rid of stuff like same sex marriage and get involved in wars more and like the government being bigger, and the Trump conservatives who generally favor reform in the government and want it to be smaller. It's true that the Trump side is transphobic in many aspects but they still tend to be the more progressive of the two factions

Most gay/trans people that I've seen that are right wing tend to be on the Trump conservative side

Eh, Trump on several occasions in the past has openly disagreed with gay marriage. Not to mention if you look at the party as a whole, homophobia is NOT rare. It’s less that they are more progressive, and more that they aren’t as open about it anymore. At least till recently, shits been flying off the rails recently, ngl💀

Trump's secretary of the treasury during his last term was gay
Peter Thiel (who is also Elon Musk's best friend) literally came out as gay during Trump's GOP speech
The Trump admin started a global effort to decriminalize homosexuality
And JD Vance also stated that he was fine with normal gay guys voting for him and Trump during Joe Rogan's podcast

It's true a lot of the party as a whole is known for being homophobic and transphobic, but there is a bit more leniency when it comes to what Trump is doing
