This month, remember Walter White (1893-1955). He joined the NAACP in 1918 & devoted his life to ending lynchings. In spite of the appearance his mixed ancestry gave him, he identified with his black side. He often passed for white & went to places where hate crimes happened to gather evidence. He would have been killed if he got caught, but he made it to the age of 61 & died of natural causes.
