your claim was that he cracked 50%. he didn't. saying that his approval outstripped his disapproval is another way of moving the goal post, so 1) follow your own standard, and 2) where did his approval outstrip his diasapproval? it's gotten close but has been lower than approval every day.

to look at trend would be moving the goalposts, and we know you don't like that. interreting data correctly isn't playing a numbers game. it's taking the proper meaning from the data. fivethirtyeight combines many polls every day (that's why the graph is a scatter plot) and ***combines the results*** to reduce the bias and error that's in eacxh poll. you are pinning your analysis to one specific poll on a specific day, a poll you know nothing about except that it found 50% favorability. most polls on that day found less than 50%, and their weighted mean was 47.3 to 47.4%. try to learn from this.
