2D animation is gone and it's never coming back

Sorry, saying NO with an infinite number of Os isn't going to bring 2D traditional animation back. 3D computer animation has made it obsolete. So get used to it.

what about 2d digital animation

That is still being utilized. It's being utilized on TV shows like The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy and Grimsburg. I'm talking about 2D traditional animation where every individual frame is painted and/or drawn by hand. That type of animation was used in Disney movies like Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, the original 1950 version of Cinderella, and the 1959 version of Sleeping Beauty, as well as the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes series of cartoons distributed by Warner Brothers. That is the type of animation that is never coming back.

what about storyboards

Storyboards are larger versions of comic books. Storyboards are not animation.
