Xiao sent a messenger to request for reinforcements, in the meantime he, with his army reduced to half and those who remained mostly injured, would have fought the Mongols.
Even with Xiao's incredible strength, his army eventually fell, with him standing alone on the battlefield, but not without halving the Mongol army.
On his knees, he said:
“My army fell to the hands of the enemy… Excellent warriors… I shall not succumb to these barbarians before I have left a burn they cannot forget…
They consider themselves a star, the best among others… but a fading star cannot dream to best the light of the rising sun…”
Xiao stood up.
“Tonight… a star shall fall”
He swung his weapon as a breath of fire came out of it.
Determined to fight as long as he could, he stamped the ground with his Guan Dao and suddenly flames erupted around a portion of the Mongol army, making a circle of fire.
From outside of the tall fire flames could be seen rising in the sky, alongside the sound of metal clashing.
Xiao fought off the portion of Mongols he trapped, his weapon constantly on fire, burning through all the enemies.
But Xiao was not left unscathed, he had been stabbed in the bottom left portion of the abdomen, but such was not enough to stop him.
Xiao rushed through the tall flames he created, fighting the rest of the Mongol army. The grass below his feet burned as he stepped on it, those who clashed with him and sometimes even hitting him were burnt.
With wide and powerful slashes he created storms of fire. He handled all the warriors coming at him, even when hit, slashed or perforated.
Having defeated most of the army, he stood in the middle of the fiery battlefield among hundreds of corspses. Reinforcements still needed time to arrive.
With the wounds and injuries he had, bruises on his knees, ribs crushed down to pieces and nothing left to hold on, he rushed at the Mongols.
Xiao's eyes emitting a fiery determination, he jumped into the air. It seemed as if a fire Chinese dragon followed him into the air. He shifted his grip on his Guan Dao and threw it at the Mongols, the fire dragon following the Guan dao, opening it's mouth.
When the weapon hit the ground, the massive fire dragon exploded into flames onto the Mongols, burning them to a crisp.
Xiao fell to the ground, and there he let out his last breath.
