Disney also lied to us all when they called the 2019 remake of The Lion King a "live-action remake" (it was almost all computer animation), so I'm disappointed, but not surprised.
I think the 2019 TLK movie could be classified as live action. Would you rather the lions have been real? Then they wouldn't have been able to talk and their lips would have just been closed the whole time.
They could have built lifelike robotic animals and built sets that looked like the African wilderness. If they had done that, then the movie could honestly be called a "live-action remake".
