take a website of mine for example

if someone accesses it from another continent, their HTTP request travels across the f**king Earth at speeds that you can't even see

pretty soon it’ll expand to interplanetary too, china already plans on launching dozens of relay satellites to the moon and spacex wants a mars version of starlink

i think parents are worried bc once upona time dumb people weren't encouraged to be dumb bc it wasn't common to be dumb, but with the internet, dumb people can find their own communities and pool off their collective ignorance

the problem is that while this is true, it doesn't mean the entire internet should be nuked
it does not mean that screens are overly addictive either bc everything we did on different things once upon a time we do on screens now. You can write stories on a computer, socialize, play games, etc.
It's not fair to say that because someone uses their computer a lot they're an addict
now if they spend 10 hours a day on Twitch, yeah you've got a problem.

stupidity is mainly encouraged because we live in a society where things are heavily more convenient, causing them to literally use their brains less

so i think the solution is mainly to get rid of useless manual jobs like fast food cashier and encourage jobs that actually involve thinking, i think then that’s when we’ll truly begin to excel as a species when we’ve literally 100% eliminated of the manual labor requirement by humans

i mean we only started progressing technologically as soon as we invented agricultural methods, and a reduced effort to find food meant that now manual labor could be relegated to less and less humans, allowing for more recreational and scientific endeavors to be done, so if we get rid of 100% human-done manual labor, that would be tremendously beneficial

i think you're on to something there
but there is definitely people finding validation in dumb ideas and then referring to anyone who points out their dumbness as a "bully"

But i do think that our enviornment does not encourage critical thinking
part of the problem is our school system, though. We have people deliberately not trying to teach reasoning because the people running our school system support a cause that would never see the light of day if people were intelligent. There are people in school systems saying things like "logic is a white construction".
There's an attempt to engineer everything. Our entertainment is completely faked and engineered now. I think they want to take us into a utopian future where no one thinks and we just live and do while they control everything and no one even knows what stepping out of line is, kind of like in the first Lego Movie where Emmett blindly follows "the instructions".

Yeah, I definitely think we are headed to a place where manual labor will be eradicated by AI and we will all have to make livings online, which is probably exciting as it is horrifying. But I hate manual labor so I ain't complaining.

You’re completely right

And this is one of the reasons why I support outer space colonization, because it encourages human beings to actually see and try to understand how the universe works, which is helpful in critical thinking (or at least so in my opinion). It also encourages an exciting and interesting (even if dangerous) future and not a boring and depressing one where we forever remain to die on Earth, and that future tends to (not surprisingly) be supported the most by leftists. The freedom and risk that outer space colonization provides goes against their very idea of humanity needing strict control and where independent thought itself is bad. For one thing, independent thought, and intelligence, will be inherently valued on the final frontier for obvious reasons.

outer space colonization definitely has to be done right and safely and not as a way to reduce overpopulation. But I agree, it would expand the human mind to have more people in space.

Yeah, throughout history, that has been mostly supported by liberals. Liberals have supported going electric and solar and going out into space. I think it's odd they all championed Elon Musk as a hero bc he's trying to do all that, but then turned on him the moment he started saying things out of line. Now you got politicians protesting his existence and ironically saying "i ain't ever buying a tesla" while having a Volkswagen (that was literally a Nazi-made car).

But freedom of thought is not something the left wants to exist nowadays.

Some of the older liberals (like for example the deputy NASA admin that Obama picked in one of his terms who literally endorsed Trump’s recently nominated administrator for NASA) definitely support space colonization, but this view isn’t really seen anymore by liberals now and I think it’s starting to get picked up by the political right especially after people like Elon Musk have started recently moving in that direction. A lot of leftists nowadays actually think that space colonization is wasteful and focuses too much on rich people which just heavily misses the big picture as if that were the case, SpaceX for example would have only really sent space tourists to space, but they so far since 2020 have only sent actual astronauts or generally highly qualified people to space and not once has it ever been a rich space tourist.

Subsequently liberals have begun to buy into the fallacy that we “have to fix our planet first before colonizing space” despite literally thousands of useful inventions being created only made out of necessity from space colonization, which have easily proven to have significantly helped the planet, and that outer space colonization also means that we literally have entire planets-worth of useful minerals which could obviously help Earth.

Basically what I meant to say was that the future of humans being stuck entirely on Earth is now actually pretty much supported by liberals.
