Here’s a simple cherry pie recipe:
Ingredients:
2 unbaked pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
4 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter (optional, cut into small pieces)
1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)
Granulated sugar for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions:
1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare filling: In a large bowl, mix cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Let sit for 10 minutes.
3. Assemble pie: Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Pour cherry filling into the crust. Dot with butter if desired.
4. Top crust: Cover with the second crust (or create a lattice). Trim excess and crimp edges to seal.
5. Egg wash (optional): Beat egg with water and brush over the top crust. Sprinkle with sugar.
6. Bake: Place pie on a baking sheet to catch drips. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until crust is golden and filling bubbles.
7. Cool: Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before serving.
Enjoy! 🥧
