His father, Errol, owned a stake in a Namibian emerald mine world worth only about $3 million today. And just around a million of that was primarily used to fund Elon’s education and his Zip2 venture with his brother. A “nepo baby” is someone who basically entirely relies on generation wealth. And considering that he’s worth over $400 billion today from his father’s $3 million, I really doubt that he qualifies as a “nepo baby”.

Also, his development of his Tesla, SpaceX, and Boring Company ventures are entirely self-made, as he made about $200 million from Zip2 in the 1990s and used just about the ENTIRETY of that money to fund two extremely novel and highly ambitious projects of his, Tesla and SpaceX — Tesla would be only the second car company to never go bankrupt after Ford, and SpaceX would be the first successful independent space company after others like Orbital APK, Beal Aerospace, Kessler, and Roton either ran out of money or were purchased by larger corporations. A greedy individual would not gamble his money like that. And he only founded SpaceX literally because he wanted to renew people’s interest in outer space. As a direct result of him also intending to reduce the cost of building rockets, the cost to send things to space has unironically decreased by a hundredfold.

Also, Starlink isn’t a dumb sci-fi idea. By not relying on Internet cables you can get Internet access from literally anywhere in the world. That means Africa. That means places in the Amazon rainforest. And that means extreme places in the poles. This is extremely, extremely good for poor African countries that can’t afford Internet infrastructure like Western countries normally can.

So while I’m not a fan of all of his political views (like what he thinks about trans people), he’s still a very respectable entrepreneur.

Also, even if it was free, Starlink is a dangerous idea for a few reasons, first of all, they can obscure the view of telescopes, which can be dangerous as it can stop us from avoiding NEOs, and also, elon is putting stones in his own road, like a network of satellites is all fine and dandy until one breaks down, switches trajectory and hits another one and... yk, we have zenbonsakura around the earth. That's called collisional cascade. And even if elon has every satellite perfectly controlled, he'd have to also keep in check obsolete dead satellites and the copycats that would more than likely appear.
