I'd like to begin by saying I'm sad to see the outgoing City Council members go.
And I'd like to welcome the new SMRR council members. Who got their positions by manipulation of the public. With disinformation and fear that rent control would be taken away if they weren't elected.
Which is untrue due to rent control being in the City's charter. Not to mention your own individual special interests, which won't serve the City as a whole.
Now I'd like to give the new and remaining council members some information from the November 19, 2024 Audit Subcommittee's Moss/Adams report on public works. Where on page four, in the last lines of the second paragraph, it states:
The City has also made an effort to continue funding projects that align with the City Council and community priorities.
Then on page ten, the first paragraph states:
Ideally, the City's prioritization criteria would ensure that the City is making the most of it's limited funding and incorporate sufficient specificity to aid in understandable and transparent project capital requests based on prioritization. The GFAO recommends that government first prioritize capital requests based on health and safety considerations, service, and asset preservation. When the City does approach prioritization this way there are opportunities for the City to more clearly communicate how a project scores according to this criteria and weigh critical maintenance more heavily. Just something to think about.
