How is that any different from anything else? There are 4 fundamental kinds of energy in physics: Gravitational, Electromagnetic, Strong and Weak. The latter are a bit complex, as they are mostly found in quantum mechanics, but the former two are currently helpful in this discussion. Physical interaction, light or magnetic forces are all effects of electromagnetic energy, while gravitational forces are, well, of gravitational energy. So what we can "see" is not the question to be asked. It's all just an interaction with proteins in our eyes. Which technically could be extended to the absence of consciousness, as there is no clear point at which a chemical reaction like neurons in the brain (or, electrically, a computer program!) can be called conscious.
