I saw this in a window display recently and it made me think about the new Employment Rights Bill going through Parliament.
This includes the potential curtailment of work-related emails and calls outside of core working hours.
Before the mobile phone – (I got my first one in 1996), this was never a problem and evening emails were not an issue until 1998 when I could access them from home using a massive lump of a PC.
It is important to have that cut-off between work and home and to get that balance right.
Downtime is important and it makes for a much more productive team.
Do I sometimes wish the phone was still tethered to the house?
Absolutely, Yes!
