Blackbeard (Edward Teach) was the most
feared pirate in the history of the Caribbean.
He was infamous for his brutality.
Eyewitnesses described him as a glowing demon.
Just how many people did he kill anyway?
Well, actually none. His terrible reputation was created by himself.
Wherever he went he & his crew would spread rumors
about how terrible he was before he even did anything.
He was counting on people fearing him & handing
over their possessions without a fight,
in hopes he will have mercy on them, which they did.
When boarding an enemy ship he had wicks burning
in his hair & beard to create the glowing effect.
In the end the strategy only worked for 2
years before he was caught and executed.
