Tried to find answer on internet... How would the Romans know that Jupiter was so big?

They looked at it in the sky (with some kind of telescopes) and found it big considering that he's far from Earth, so until now, Jupiter is the "king" Of the planets in our solar system.

But the telescope wasn't invented until 1608. I wonder how they knew there were other planets?

Maybe when earth and Jupiter were on a closer position they saw it with the naked eyes
