I'm thinking that's because Trump is threatening RINO corruption and thus their money and power sources whereas in regards to the Left's leadership he's just threatening their ideology and policies -- most of which they are too cynical to really believe in. They just use it to manipulate the Left's hordes of Useful Idiots.
