So first let's look at the Impeachment Clause:; Article II, Section 4:; The President, Vice President and
all civil Officers of the United States,
shall be removed from Office on; Impeachment for, and Conviction
of, Treason, Bribery, or other high
Crimes and Misdemeanors. Now, while there's lot of
back and forth about what
constitutes a "high Crime"
(with some debaters arguing
that it's whatever a majority
of the House says is a crime
-i.e. dereliction of duty, violation
of Oath), it's hard to argue that
a clear violation of an established
law isn't a crime. And if we take into account that the Framers
specified "Misdemeanors," -misdemeanors
being low-level violations of the law- it tends
to follows that by "high Crime" the Framers'
intended meaning was "felony"; So here's where things start getting interesting:
it's reasonable to ASSUME the Framers' intended
the Impeachment Clause to be employed in
instances of sitting officials violating the law
during their current tenure but the catch is
*no specification along that line*. The Impeachment Clause simply says "shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Now, you're probably wondering
where I'm going with this so let's cut to the chase:; Your boy committed repeated instances of felony records fraud in 2017 **while he was POTUS** -meaning that under the terms stated by the Impeachment Clause, he's fair game to be impeached and thrown out of office as soon as he's sworn in. Is that likely to happen? No telling.
I mean... it'd be riding on a lot of variables
coming into alignment. But Mitch
McConnell has significant sway in the
Senate, John Thune is already signaling
he's not going to brook any recess shenanigans; Which is to say that it'll only take
a handful of GOPers in both houses
who've had enough of Tangerine
Palpatine's chaos turd diet reaching
across the aisle to carry it through. So yeah, it's not the braying
GOPers who love dancing for
the cameras y'all need to worry
about, no -it's the backgrounders
who stay out of the public eye,
quietly do their jobs, keep their
opinions to themselves that will
spell your boy's doom or salvation.
