You all know how much I love the mainline Yakuza games so this isn’t super surprising.
This is one of those early dragon engine games so its combat is extremely clunky. Yakuza 4, from 8 years prior, feels way better to play than this game.
But in Judgment’s defense, after I upgraded the combat speed twice, it felt much better. I no longer left massive gap windows for enemies to attack me and break my combos, so it felt more fluid.
The friend system is a vastly upgraded version from Yakuza 0 spanning almost every restaurant, the side cases are a good time along with the main story, and Yagami as a character is very likable. However, the unholy amount of follow and tailing missions is criminal. I’m glad these never came back in later games.
It had been a while since I played Yakuza 6 so I forgot that Little Asia had burned down and now it’s being rebuilt in this game.
