A large portion of my morals come from a mixture of being tough skinned and studying religion and history, as well as considering it like a math equation.
1 up, 2mo,
1 reply
That's... logical. Considering it like maths is literally what logic means. And checking all the sources is the smart thing to do. I just disregard those who don't discard the bad things, such as faith.

Faith itself is NOT bad. I don't want to be bound to a god or government, but I respect both because they're human constructs that can improve the quality of someone's life.

But that's a false improvement, a band aid on a stab wound. Either you'll grab onto the faith to the bitter end, which isn't very desirable, or you postpone the need to go face to face with reality. Also, governments and gods are different. One is based in faith, the other one in logic. Not to the best extent, I have some changes I'd love to apply but like... They're different, at least in democracy.

I should learn to stop bringing up religion because you're not listening
1 up, 2mo
I am. I'm just exposing what I think about the issue, and I've argued a lot w/ myself until I got to the idea that confronting the meaninglessness of the absurd is the only path to an unshakable happiness. "Come with me, let us dance at the cliff at the end of meaning, and if you fall just remember, it'd have happened one way or another, at least you had fun on your way down"

I hate that nobody here respects religion

That's something I'm pretty firm on so like...
Also, there are some religious people, like blu3 and neko. And I'm a satanist, I'm only against illogical behavior, unsubstantiated beliefs and indoctrination

Yet you are so hateful of Christianity you need to follow the exact opposite of what it is instead of become an atheist

Genuinely, it's not only christianity. I despise islam, buddhism, hinduism, (idr the name of the jewish faith). Every myth adds a layer of separation from reality. Would people be so eager to decline life saving abortions and HRT if they didn't expect a second life? Would there be so much hatred without the group mentality of a name? Genuinely, religion takes away individuality, it creeps up into your brain.
And also, satanism is about satan not as a god of sorts, but as a role model, like El Cid Campeador, a rebel who fought unfair authority, (the church, the fascists, anything) represented by god to gain the freedom to live outside the unfair rules of faith. Like I like the term satanism bc it makes the pearl clutchers clutch their pearls, but I could also be called "Überschmen Nihilist", "Sophist", "Cynicist", "Absurdist" or "Hedonist".

By the way Buddhism isn't much a religion as it is a way of peaceful life. It does in fact preach authority and discipline from within rather than fully from religion or those around you.

Accidental spread of misinformation. Just as there is christian philosophy, there is buddhist philosophy, but buddhism is to hinduism what christianism is to judaism: an answer to the main problem in the religion, Jesus talked about freeing us of original sin (which contradicts early jewish beliefs but like, ok) and Buddha talked about taking the middle road to achieve nirvana, a state of "immortality" by eternal stillness (Tbh my problem w/ death is the eternal stillness, so I'd actively avoid enlightenment if Ik buddhism was real to keep reincarnating). Buddhism has mythological stuff, and if you follow it as a philosophy, you're just being a weeb and adding exoticism to what Plato said at about the same time.

In my mind I've established that youre being edgy by this simple rubric:
1. You think religion is indoctrination and wrong (if Satanism is a real religion then it's just as wrong to follow it)
2. You follow Satanism out of a hatred for other religion
0 ups, 2mo
1. Satanism is different in the sense there is no hierarchy, so it isn't an unchecked power; and it is non-supernaturalis, so it is logical. As I said, I use the term "satanist" to scandalize. I've already told you other terms I prefer to use, and in some treaties I've written I call my brand of satanism "0 sum absurdism". If you prefer that term, we can work with it.
2. My hatred is not towards religion, but towards those who relinquish logic.

I really like fictionalizing diogenes, bc cynicism is a really interesting philosophy but he didn't write shit, so I just make up quotes for him.
"Plato, as you ask me what good is, you're being dishonest. You already know it. Good is good, beauty is beauty and the truth is the truth, that's all you need to know. Why define when you can recognize?"
0 ups, 2mo,

Cynicism is kind of stupid, I don't know the religion but I know the mindset well
0 ups, 2mo,
1 reply
Not the mindset, the greek philosophy. Not the "Everything is shit and f**k everything" kind of cynicism, but the "The only reality is the one we experience. There are no higher archetypes. Doing good is good not because of some ideal world, but bc it's good"
0 ups, 2mo,
1 reply
Aww yeah cynicism is kind of a W although I don't think it's really that close to other religions (based off of your wording)
0 ups, 2mo
It isn't a religion, it's a philosophy founded by Antisthenes of Athens, who was a disciple of both Gorgias and Socrates, creating a middle ground philosophy that spoke of an intuitive good and the compulsion to make it come forth. Diogenes of Sinope then took it to the extreme.

It was essentially a small loaf of bread with some cheese and pepperoni inside

Ohhhh i thought you changed the subject
I feel no true emotion in times of others' distress, like a sociopath. It was mostly my mother telling me I'm worthwhile, running through her own history of that shit. I don't think the conversation had much effect on me, but rather her

Yeah. Mostly bc they say I do it bc I think it's cool bc people who self harm are inferior and weak, and I'm not like that so I do that bc the weaklings made me. Yes I kin Hakuri Sazanami, how did you guess?

I don't really say much of it IRL, like I show my friends "don't ask" but like earlier some asshole asked me "what happened to your arm" and I go back to doing what I was doing (using a microscope in biology to observe a slice of onion)

I know I'm worth my weight in potting soil so I just tell myself I don't need to care about what they do or say
1 up, 2mo
Well, the mycelium of my parents' opinions is rooted pretty deep inside my brain. I've never had to unbrainwash myself from religion, but I gotta do that from my parents.

But to answer your question a pizza roll is more like a calzone while a panini is a sandwich that is grilled in a certain way.

My brother in christ, I can say with a straight face and provide evidence that you've professed hatred for many religions. Actual hatred.
0 ups, 2mo,

It isn't direct. I don't specifically hate christians, I hate the relinquish of reason. I've expressed hatred for it through religion, flat earthers, antivaxxers and transphobes. I'm not saying I've never expressed hatred for religion. That'd be a huge lie. All I'm saying is that the cause is deeper than jut "Religion bad >=("

Relinquish reason. As in, disrespect religion and follow the direct opposite out of spite. Your reasoning is very good, Mitra. I think I like you.
0 ups, 2mo,

H-how's that unreasonable? Treat the unreasonable with the respect it deserves (none) and sometimes a lot more and follow a philosophy I arrived to reasonably. Genuinely, what's unreasonable abt that?
0 ups, 2mo,

D-d-dont make me laugh, Mitra. If the concept of reason encompasses what you can see I might not exist.

Have you ever been told something that you know the other party thinks is a completely absurd extrapolation of what you mean and you've been like "yeah, kind of"
Well, I'm a firm believer in both solipsism and utilitarianism. Yeah, everything around me may be a hallucination. Working from that assumption isn't useful, so I won't.

Yeah, I know, but I can see religious people locking down using thought terminating cliches. They see in some way that they're wrong, but they're afraid.
0 ups, 2mo,

Yes. I don't think that a good religious person is close minded.
1 up, 2mo
If they aren't close minded, they will stop being religious if they reason enough. Like I don't think people who just take their morals from religion and not interact with the myths or the hierarchy.
