There is a convenience to shaming. It directs our disappointments at others when we don't want to do that which healing requires. It is unacceptable when strangers point fingers or write comments that mean "You deserve this!" Perhaps that is why some imagined Trump as a "best friend" who could get away with saying "You deserve this as much as they do!" It's easier to handle abuse from someone we desire: because we accept the love we think we deserve.
