The company behind the Pokémon Games and basically the franchise since they created the first (and all) games. This one’s gonna hit people hard because there’s so many fake Pokémon out there, they make it harder for gamefreak to add new ones because of legal reasons, and this is our first bit of evidence that they cut Pokémon if they think the design is too similar to a fan’s idea.

I think Gamefreak gives them permission, but it’s hard to know who owns what considering there is a company out there that’s literally called “The Pokémon Company.” I think Niantic just does Pokémon Go and the mobile games.

This could also be the reason why some Pokémon look like they’re about to evolve into something bipedal (fuecoco) and evolve into something quadrupedal instead.
