I will argue why something is not, it’s the community.

I will use two examples, a video game first.

Fortnite. The game is not bad itself, the bad thing about it it’s the players who are mostly kids and sweats, which is normal for a game like Fortnite but that’s also the main reason so much people hate it.

Now being a bit more serious.

FPE (Fundamental Paper Education). The web series originally started as a video by Kaaatie on YouTube and it exploded in popularity, which was good. It got and a fandom. But that’s the problem, the fandom. The fandom is not the most sane you are going to find from the some…questionable people…to different things.

Being real serious now, one of the things is that the creator, Kaaatie said she does not want to even draw anything related to FPE anymore since it gives her anxiety and issues to hear the background song in the video. So, what do I want to get with this? Show that is not the game/show, it’s the community/fandom.

Correct. What about Digital Circus? Call of Duty? Roblox? F**king Murder Drones? Nothing about these is bad. It's the communities which took this and bullshitted all over it. I'm upset to hear this thing about FPE. Maybe the creator will be able to make more... someday. It's good to see that Liam Vickers didn't let that happen though with MD, and now Gooseworx with TADC. This has become a problem. A big one. Someone should do something.

It's human nature. When something is good, people want to gather around it. When people gather around something, someone is going to disagree. There'll be hot takes, There'll be fanart, and if enough people gather, it WILL devolve into a cesspool of bad fan content and heated debate. Simply nature running It's course. No matter how hard you try. But, you can always choose to not interact. You can always ignore the fans. The core content is rarely attached to them.

Or you can choose to call people out for possibly illegal use of intellectual property without consent of the person who made it first. That's why I worry about posting my stories and characters with any consistency - I'm afraid someone's gonna take them since they're not copyrighted. You make a valid point, but that doesn't mean what these people are doing is wrong.

*isn't wrong.

And that's not what I meant. I see your concern, and copyright violation and content theft is very much an issue, but I was moreso talking about fandoms corrupting the original source material and perception of the content. Theft is still theft though, copyrighted or not. There's just a difference between distasteful fanart and illegal use of assets.
