You're so real for this. People need to learn to let loose in life and stop taking everything so seriously. I say take your work seriously, but not yourself. Especially with the younger generations, this seems to be a huge problem. Kids these days try to start a practical flame war over, what, not having heard the latest hit song or not being up to speed on a show? Meanwhile, there are real-world issues that they either ignore or only speak of to attract attention. Even when I was younger, and I'd like to think I'm not that old, we could all get away with more. Look at even humour in shows from the 90s and 00s vs. now. Everything's so watered down, and it's nice to have chill content and diversity, don't get me wrong, but sometimes, it's okay to have a laugh if it's at nobody's true expense. There's a huge difference between making a lighthearted joke about something everyone knows to be true and literally degrading a person. One could point out that I drink a lot of coffee or tea, but that's not offensive. That's just the truth. If you were saying, however, that that's somehow a bad thing or makes me a lesser person somehow, that'd be different, but simply pointing it out is a non-issue. People need to let things go, man.
