I didn't bring many torches ;-;

I lit up some of the water under it with jack o lanterns and got a couple bits of land, the tutorial recommended lighting up 15 blocks out from it so I'll have to come back with more jack o lanterns at some point

Question, have you encountered many creepers near the farm?

I actually haven't encountered any mobs near the farm, there was just one drowned while I was building

Other than that there were some like 20-30 blocks away (across the water, not connected by land at all) which despawned within seconds of me seeing them

I think it’s because of the magma blocks they might be burning the slimes and therefor possibly burning the slime orb…thingys

Lava does that. Magma blocks only burn stuff that walks on them
