Jesus help us. Again, huge fan of the art posted on Abby61219's page (for those not in the know, she posts beautiful drawings by one of her friends, who happens to be - no exaggeration - the best drawer I have ever bore witness to. She uses multiple different mediums depending on the piece, ranging from pencil drawings to pen, as well as digital art done on her laptop and cell phone, but here's the real kicker: When working on her phone, she doesn't use a stylus. You'd never know it, though, because she's that good. Her content ranges from cartoon characters to original characters to even realistic portraits of celebrities, with the occasional animal drawing sneaking in, and this young woman has the talent to back up her range. Go have a look.). Naturally, I got inspired because not only is she technically skilled, the sheer quality of every piece of her work makes her craft look like the easiest task in the world, yet deceptively so. Over the weekend, I attempted to use Kleki, a Web site she uses for some of her digital drawings, but I found it enragingly difficult. As of late, she's been into PaperDraw, a free mobile app, and, as always, has been creating amazing works of art. You may look at it and, at first, think, "that's just a cartoon," and although she does, in fact, draw cartoons often, just look a centimetre closer and pay close attention to the level of detail work and effort she puts into even the simplest characters. These are no mere "cartoon doodles". Each and every piece is of professional quality, yet foolishly, I decided to try out PaperDraw, guessing it may be easier than the former program, yet it's much harder in a different way. There are so many tools, each works differently, and I can't, for the life of me, differentiate between sizing and opacity for each tool, nor have I figured out the nuances of how each tool works. I may uninstall it. My drawing is supposed to be a cat in a cowboy hat, but this app's so user-unfriendly that it appears more like a demonic abomination. Ah, well. I do hope someone out there who's not too harsh a critic is able to crack a smile at it, even if you're just laughing at this fool who has no idea what he's doing.
