All those years of learning latin have finally payed off

What does it say? I tried translating it and apparently got it wrong.

You got it pretty much correct

I would read it as "now we have the best language, the language of Rome, and our language. Are we, therefore, the new peoples of Rome? are we brothers in our lord? God wills it!"

Translation: Now I have the best language "The language of Rome, and our language. So, are we the new Gentiles of Rome? Are we brothers in our Lord?

That's google translate, which is notoriously horrid at translating. It makes more sense in Latin.

Also "Gentiles" is a mistranslation, it's "tribes", or "peoples". It's used to refer to the Gentiles in the old testament of the vulgate, but it's a different word.

So what is the proper translation then?

Latin is also notorious for translating very badly into english. Unfortunately, you gotta learn it.
