These globalists don't get it. . .or maybe they do. Trump did 'country first' when president. It was rough at first but it worked. USA had good economy numbers and people were getting jobs. It didn't mean the US shut out the rest of the world though. It just meant that before we could help anyone else we first had to help ourselves and fix our own problems before helping other countries.
Other countries saw what was happening and thought, "If it works for the United States maybe it'll work for our country. Might as well give it a try. After all we have nothing else to lose at this point." And instead of failing this last ditch idea, countries were starting to find themselves being turned around like what happened to the USA. Jobs and stronger economies. For many countries it was the start of actual prosperity.
Then Covid hit. Now there are plenty of conspiracy theories about who was actually behind it. Personally I believe it was China hitting The Panic Button because they were starting to take serious hits though tariffs and losing their slave labor as countries, including the USA, started to manufacture their own goods and whatnot or stuck trade deals with each other that completely cut out China.
What the USA and other countries did also hurt the globalists. They began to realize they were losing influence because countries were doing their own things in order to have their strong countries instead of listening to them. Doing that meant a loss of influence from the leadership of the EU, UN, and might as well thrown in NATO for good measure. These organizations were no longer the negotiators and influencers whether it was concerning war(which Trump avoided like a plague) or trade(which he was getting the country back on track.) EU, UN, NATO, etc took advantage of Covid and quickly got their old influence back along with their idea of the status quo.
