And because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, we Americans dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and finally earned their respect. Respect must be earned, not demanded. There are three ways to earn the respect of another person:
1. Accomplish something the other person believes to be impossible.
2. Beat the other person at their own game.
3. Become the other person's worst nightmare.
Dropping those atomic bombs on Japan did all three, and finally scared them straight. People don't mess around with you when they're scared of you.
