I was helping teach a sad sack of shit a f**king lesson that he wouldn't learn otherwise

Define judgment. Automatically assuming the best is as judgmental as automatically assuming the worst. With that being said, if we blindly assume one is either saved or unsaved based on our observations then we're guilty. Likewise if we assume someone is a sin wallower or just a struggler based on outward observations but aren't going to God Himself in our prayer time and asking Him so we can judge righteously then we're guilty and will mishandle it. If we go to Him we can know if one is saved or unsaved, intends to divide if they're an unsaved wallower in sin or deceived my "non-judgmental" churches into thinking they can wallow & be truly born again which will enable us to handle it right. Some need to hear it gently others need a whip crack edition. Other Christians in sin... Could they do more in their fight against their particular area or they doing all they can to fight? If we ask HIM ALONE is the ONLY way we won't be guilty of judgment.

Oh and consider when Jesus said Judge not He meant blindly in an instant without any knowledge of the heart. Since only He knows the heart then we must go to Him and ask. Even if they appear to be wallowing in sin it isn't necessarily indicative of their true heart motive with their sin. Some mean to flip God off while others are trying to numb pain. It must be confronted in both but done appropriately for it to bear fruit. Likewise those who appear to have the fruits of the Spirit may only appear to. Unless we know them then anyone can fake it at church for a few hours. Ask God and get secret devils revealed as well. We've all been guilty and have groups and individuals we are more prone to assume the best or worst of. If we make getting the final word from Him directly in prayer a habit then we can combat this better.
