Yes, and they would not dare to do that if the media outlets in this nation were roughly evenly divided into support for the two opposing parties. But since the media is roughly 95% controlled by, and loyal to, the Dem Party they CAN spout all of these lies with impunity, because all too many citizens don't even know HOW to look for alternative and truthful news sources -- and even in some cases that reliable alternatives even exist. That's the power of a very near monopoly. You either use their 'services' or do without.
